Adventures In Writing For Serious. Not Just For Funsies.

An short update on my goal of taking my writing seriously in terms of getting published:

Got my second rejection letter for a selection of poems. My tactic for consoling myself this time is based on the fact that they addressed the letter to "Gentle Reader." That just annoys me; clearly I wouldn't want to be published by them anyway. Is it strange that I'm pleased to be able to update my writing submission spreadsheet now?

In other writing news, after getting that rejection slip for some poems, I produced a revamped third draft of a short story today, which I like much better than the predecessors. I had this epiphany that if, as a writer, you lack conviction about a key premise to your story, you probably can't write convincingly about it. Shocking, I know.

Gentle reader?!

All I can think of is, "Reader, I married him."
